About 2 years ago a number of MM user groups had a similar problem with a host we were receiving free services from. The host went belly up, with whatever backups they had.

Sadly, what I learned was that 'backups' that are made by your ISP are only useful if you have them on your own machine and have verified they are good. Just because they create (or claim they do) backups, doesn't mean they work, or that you will ever get them. There are scenarios where it doesn't matter how much you plead and beg, the data will not be made available.

Backups are only backups if you have them and have verified them periodically. ISPs may not give them to you (they didn't make them, they erased them, they are bad, you pay your bills, they pay theirs, they don't have legal problems, ethical problems, etc.)

Make your own backups! I learned my lesson.

oh...and you get what you pay for in most things in life

Sorry for your loss. Hope you are able to recover at least some of it. Archive.org appears to have at least some of your older content (<a href="http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.visible-form.com/blog" rel="nofollow">blog</a>).

Am using WordPress myself and have been pretty happy with it. Nice attention to detail, etc.

Good luck!
