Just a small clarification, and I’m sure you’re aware of this but some of your readers may not be. Flex 2 has been released for Mac (by way of the Flex 2 SDK or Flex Data Services on an app server), Flex Builder 2 has not been released for Mac. Flex 2 development on a mac is very possible today, and I hope no one is discouraged from doing so because Flex Builder 2 is not yet available (not to disparage the great features of Flex Builder 2 when it becomes available). As evidence, the Flex Style Explorer was built almost exclusively on a macintosh. The final compile was done with Flex Builder though to add “view source” functionality, one of the things that Flex Builder does offer that Flex SDK does not.
yes, i should have been more specific i guess, i was defintely talking about Flex Builder…thats the coolest part about developing with flex.
I did have one of the beta’s working with Xcode, but im not sure that would still work, havent tried it.
aux contraire my friend, the SDK is THE coolest part of flex.
It’s free, it works on a mac.
We can use xcode, Textmate (i am sure someone is working on the mxml bits), etc etc.
Of course that is if you are a code-oriented developer…
But for those wysiwygy guys, i hear its coming…
Adobe is working on Flex Builder for Mac. The issue is that Eclipse for Mac needs to improve before several core Flex Builder features can be supported. We are on it!
